Cancellations
When you book your appointment, you are holding a space on our calendar that is no longer available to our other clients. In order to be respectful of fellow clients, please contact your tutor as soon as you know you will not be able to make your appointment. With a large waiting list, there are clients who are looking for weekly tutoring sessions but are unable to be seen, so please be mindful of this.
Of course, cancellation is sometimes necessary for many reasons, such as school, sports or family events. We require that you contact your tutor at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled session to notify of this. Sessions are in high demand and your advanced notice will allow another client access to that appointment time. Any cancellation made within 24 hours of your scheduled session will result in the session still being charged for. Every effort will be made to accommodate lateness when out of the client’s control, but this is often difficult due to sessions following your own. There is no obligation on Summit Tutors to extend the session time.
Please also note that if tuition is taking place at the tutor’s house, a prompt pick up is imperative. Not only is this respectful to the tutor, it also means your tutor has sufficient time to prepare for your fellow clients who may have sessions after you. Summit Tutors will charge for repeated late pick ups at an ad hoc rate equivalent to the session.
Cancellations fee can be an awkward topic for discussion, as the subject of finance seems slightly alien given the friendly relationship we try to form between a tutor and student. However, it is important to understand the professional side of a tutoring business and consideration of all parties.
