Tutors

A strong academic background is only the starting block for our tutors. At Summit, our tutors must have strong interests in fields such as sport, music, reading and films, to name but a few, as how else can we be relatable and current enough to encourage your child to maximise their potential?

FOUNDER

I founded Summit Tutors as after 9 years in the industry, it was clear there was a real gap in the market for young, enthusiastic tutors with interests that lie both inside and outside the academic world, my aim was to show that learning can be far more interesting and relevant than many students believe. I have a 1st in Economics, having obtained 12 A*’s and A’s at GCSE and A*AA at A-level. I have tutored hundreds of students and pride myself on the rapport I build with them, and remain in touch with many families after their tutoring journey is over.

Outside tutoring, my main passions in life are sport and fitness. I love football, whether it is playing or watching Southampton FC, going to the gym, as well as hacking it round the golf course. Away from sport, I love reading economics or fantasy books, watching movies and playing video games on the PS5 and Switch!

SCIENCE • TRIPLE SCIENCE (CHEMISTRY, BIOLOGY AND PHYSICS)

I’m currently studying a masters in Chemistry at the University of Southampton, as science has always been a passion of mine, leading me to 3 A*’s at GCSE in Chemistry, Biology and Physics, although I also achieved A’s in Maths and Computer Science at A Level. My tutoring approach is based on first ensuring the fundamentals are in place and encouraging a strong base of communication between the tutor and tutee, as well as using real world examples to show how science is used in everyday life.

Away from academic studies, I love to read. High fantasy novels and superhero comics are particular favourites, although I enjoy exploring contrasting genres. I also practice martial arts and achieved my black belt in karate when I was just fourteen, and unwind playing video games with friends.

As a tutor, I love helping students to find more confidence in themselves and translate their ideas into writing. I recently graduated from Oxford University with a first class degree in English Language and Literature, and I’m now studying for an MA in Classical Acting at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. I obtained straight A*s/9s in my GCSEs and at A level I achieved A*A*A English Lit, Spanish and Music.

When I’m not acting or studying, I love playing sports, writing music and looking after my many plants! I played for the women’s rugby team at Oxford (and absolutely loved it) and I’m also a singer and harpist.

MATHS • PHYSICS

I have always had an inquisitive nature, so learning is naturally a passion of mine. I started teaching others while I was still at school, guiding other students with their learning so that they too could find the same passion I have for their subjects. I am currently studying a physics degree at Durham University, having previously gained 4 A*s at A-level in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry, and 3 9's and 7 8's at GCSE before that.

Outside of my studies, I enjoy playing music, and have obtained grade 8 in both the piano and the oboe, as well as attending the Pauline Quirke Academy for performing arts. I also played sports such as netball and rounders for my college teams.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE • ENGLISH LITERATURE • ENTRANCE EXAM PREPARATION • UCAS ADMISSIONS

A lifetime lover of language and literature, I followed my passion to Oxford where I graduated with a upper second class-honours in English, having achieved A*A*A at A-level. As a tutor, tailoring session time to the unique learning needs and goals of each tutee is the number one priority. Whether they're aiming for straight A*s or to get a strong pass, I am dedicated to helping my students achieve their individual targets, from 11+ to degree level. Having applied successfully to both Oxford and Cambridge, I am also excited to demystify university and school admissions and applications.

I have enjoyed music and drama extra-curriculars all my life, starring in many plays during my time at uni and performing in a number of bands. In my free time, when I'm not reading a book, I will be watching movies or deep in a binge-worthy television series.

At GCSE I achieved seven 9s, two 8s and a 7, and A*A*AA at A-level, my A*s being for English Literature and my EPQ. Through having the courage to question things and the resolve to fully understand the solution I was able to improve my own grades, and I hope to pass this to my students. I currently study computer science at Durham University, having previously taken the IB Diploma at Dartford Grammar School, achieving Higher in Maths (AA), Physics and Computer Science, and Standards for Spanish, Geography and English. I scored 41/45, and got all 9s, 8s and 7s at GCSE.

I am currently a medical student studying at Anglia Ruskin University. I found a love for science throughout my time at school, achieving seven 9s and two 8s for GCSE and then, A*A*A at A-Level. I started my teaching journey with educating young people in my local community about first aid and other life skills which led me to want to support young people to achieve their academic goals as a science tutor!

Outside of academics, I am an avid reader and you will always find me with a new book! If I'm not reading or providing first aid in my community, you will probably see me learning to crochet (I have a way to go!), doing pilates or watching Brooklyn 99 and Grey's Anatomy with friends.

BUSINESS STUDIES • ENTRANCE EXAM PREPARATION

I am currently in my third year at The University of Nottingham, studying Business Management, and am on track for a 1st. At A Level, I received A*AA in Economics, Business Studies, and Drama, notably achieving the highest score in Economics in my year. Being able to wholly resonate with the struggles of learning at GCSE and A Level, my aim is to run engaging sessions that result in embedded learning, with a relaxed and personal atmosphere, allowing my students to achieve and improve their grades.

Outside of academia, I’m an avid sportsman, captaining and coaching a Nottingham University Hockey team. Recreationally, I also really enjoy skiing and playing rugby with my mates, as well as taking up lacrosse at University this year. I also love the outdoors! Since childhood, I’ve always been happy hiking, cycling, and climbing—a passion influenced by my Mum’s role as a Cub Scout Leader.

CHEMISTRY

Having initially found Chemistry impossible, I have grown to really enjoy it, to the point that I am now studying it at the University of York. Previously, I was a student at King Edward VI School in Southampton, where I achieved 12 A*/9 Grades at GCSE and 3A*s at A-level. The unusual combination of Maths, Spanish and Chemistry allowed me to develop a genuine enthusiasm for each subject, something I would love to share with others.

Besides studying, I spend a lot of my free time watching rugby, be that on the sofa or in the stadium. When I’m back home, I’m quick to get on the PlayStation, but I also really enjoy playing the drums. SCIENCE • TRIPLE SCIENCE (CHEMISTRY, BIOLOGY AND PHYSICS)

As a current medical student at the University of Nottingham, I am lucky enough to pursue my childhood passion for science. Achieving A*AA at A-level and 6 Grade 9s/ 3 Grade 8s at GCSE has enabled me to reach where I am today. I believe my previous experience of tutoring and working within multiple youth organisations has enabled me to create a confident and relaxed environment for students to excel.

Outside of my studies, I am a keen cricketer, powerlifter and novice squash player. I also lead and represent my medical school’s volleyball club.
